While the pandemic will likely limit Earth Day events for many retailers this year, now is the time to contact local environmental groups about trash pickups and other opportunities in your area. Don't forget, even without events, you can hold an in-store promotion or social media campaign.
In-store events and promotions
Educate customers about your eco-friendly practices. Order giveaways from the Eco-Friendly Subaru Gear catalog.
- Last year, Williams Subaru used social media to publicize its in-store Earth Day promotion. During the month of April customers that test drove a vehicle could enter to win several prizes, including reusable water bottles and grocery totes.
- In previous years, Modesto Subaru told visitors about the plight of the monarch butterfly and its declining population. Visitors could also pick up free seed packets to start a butterfly garden at home.
- For every vehicle sold during its past Earth Day events, Patriot Subaru donated to plant shade trees in southern Maine. They’ve collected nearly $5,000 and planted 15 trees.
Social media outreach
Use your social media channels to do an online Earth Day campaign. Below is a roundup of retailer Earth Day posts. You can find more ideas in the Eco-Friendly Retailer social media kit.
